Domaine Thomas Labaille is located in the village of Chavignol, which is the heart of Sancerre. Jean-Paul Labaille has taken on the estate from his parents-in-law, having spent his vacations assisting during the harvest, and is now working towards organic certification. His aim is to produce the style of wine that gave Sancerre its original reputation whilst upgrading the cellar to maintain purity and consistency in the wines. The older foudres have been replaced by cement and stainless steel tanks; however the domain’s old vines are still hand harvested, and quite a rarity in Sancerre these days.

Thomas Labaille Wines

Sancerre l'Authentique 100% Sauvignon Blanc. The true spirit of one of Sancerre's top villages. This is a multi vinyard selection of vines on the Kimmeridgian limestone. Vine age is 25-30yo, and the grapes are hand harvested. The wine is fermented with native yeasts in fiberglass and cement tanks, aged on its lees in stainless steel tanks for four to six months and bottled without filtration.
Sancerre Monts Damnes 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Average vine age 45yo on the famously steep slope of Monts Damnés in Chavignol. Harvested by hand (a rare sight in Sancerre these days!). The wine is fermented with native yeasts in fiberglass and cement tanks, aged on its lees in stainless steel tanks (with a small proportion of used barrel in some vintages) for 4 to 6 months and bottled without filtration.
