Jaunjo Tallaetxe is a priest and shepherd who felt there was more to his regions wines than just pouring them from a height into tumblers and set about replanting his parents vineyards and creating his own cellar.

The results are compelling, being lively, textured and remarkably complex, but infused with the scents and characters that also make the wines typical of their region.



Tantaka, Arabako-Txakolina Wines

Tantaka White label 100% Hondarribi Zuri. The vineyards are planted on the alluvial, clay soils over limestone in Artómaña (Arrastaria Valley-Álava). The fruit is hand harvested in small baskets and brought to the winery in the village for a very light pressing a pneaumatic press and fermentation is in stianless steel. After 6mth on the fine less the wine is racked and bottled. The wine is taut and alive, with emerging concentration as it opens up revealing a delicate pineapple, citirc, and earthy aromatic, with dense long lived palate.
Diapiro Yellow Capsule 80% Hondarribi Zuri, 20% Ondarrabi Zuri & Zerratia (Petit Courbu). Vineyards are in three parcels (Belandika, Itxolo and Cementerio) located in Artómaña and Délika, (Arrastaria Valley-Álava). The ferment is in one 1000 ltr stainless steel tank and aged on lees for 7mth. The result is a wine of great character and aroma of white fruits (pear and apple) and citrus (bitter orange) with subtle aniseed-flavours.
Diapiro Green Capsule 90% Hondarribi Zuri, 10% Riesling. Vineyards are in two parcels (Belandika, and Itxolo) located in Artómaña and Délika, (Arrastaria Valley-Álava). Soils are semi-deep and of alluvial nature with a climatology between Atlantic and Continental, depending on the vintage. The press is at just 55% and ageing in is in stainless steel tank of 1000 ltr for 7mth. The wine has orange blossom notes, citrus and lime and a subtle aromatic quality derived from the Riesling. The palate is dense, fruit driven with great drive, energy, and very long.
Tantaka Tinto 100% Hondarribi Beltza. A red made from fruit grown in Belandika on sandy alluvial soil.The maceration is made in stainless steel, for just 14 days and with gentle extraction to make a wine that adheres to the traditional stlye of Txakoli Tinto. The elevage is in cement, and it is bottled after 6 months. less that 1000 bottles are made each year. The wine is fragile, gossamer in its complexity and shows notes wild red fruit, spice and wild strawberry.
