P-J Druet

P-J Druet is arguably one of the Loire’s most talented winemakers and without doubt one of the finest exponents of Bourgueil. The 2005 Cent BoisselĂ©es is fermented in stainless steel and bottled without any oak contact, showing complex cedar notes and dense, dark cassis fruit on the nose, with a pure mineral palate and fabulous balance of ripe tannin and acidity that will allow the wine to age for up to another two years, although it is drinking beautifully now. “BoisselĂ©es” refers to a measurement of area in use before the metric system was introduced. P-J Druet is an original winemaker who deserves wider recognition and we are pleased to be able to represent his wines.

"Now these are wines that are delicious, a bit edgy, with real personality and sense of place. And they are wines that I will drink." Jamie Goode aka thewineanorak

2005 Cent Boisselées

"Beautifully matured, complex, medium-bodied Bourgueil: spicy fruitcake, cedar, leather and mineral aromas and a velvety, dry palate with mellow fruitiness, spicy-cedar and mineral notes. Ready now, but will last another five years."

13/08/2010 WINES of the WEEK www.joannasimon.com

" A vintage which Druet describes as "sunny but difficult", but the rains came when they were needed. He also made comparisons to ancient vintages including 1947, suggesting this was the greatest vintage he has worked. This wine has a great nose, full of dense fruits, spices, sandalwood and a savage black fruit character. The palate is fresh, dense, pure and stylish, with a rounded and complete style which makes it very easy to taste. Ripe midpalate tannins. I think this will keep well, although it is very approachable now, with all its lovely substance and ripe sweetness. 16.5-17.5+/20 (July 2008)." thewinedoctor
