Domaine Thomas Labaille
Domaine Thomas Labaille is located in the village of Chavignol, in the heart of Sancerre. Chavignol is reckoned to be the best area in the region and the domaine produces Sancerre wines that have wonderful typicity and concentration. Jean-Paul Labaille has taken over the estate from his parents-in-law, having spent numerous vacations assisting during the harvest, and he is now working towards organic certification. His aim is to produce the style of wine that gave Sancerre its original reputation whilst utilising more modern equipment to maintain purity and consistency in the wines. The older foudres have been replaced by concrete and stainless steel tanks, however the domaine’s old vines are still hand harvested, quite a rarity in Sancerre these days. L’Authentique is a ripe, richly textured, harmonious and subtly complex wine framed by the vibrant acidity that is the hallmark of great Sancerre.
