Carte Blanche Wines Wine Barrels

Gran Cardiel

Bodegas Felix Cachazo is a family enterprise that is run with energy and panache by the new generation, whose father was one of the founders of the DO. They are based in Pozaldez, which is one of the highest towns in Rueda and this, coupled with their old vineyards of Verdejo and Viura, helps to give their wines extra vibrancy. The wines have bright, pithy tropical fruit aromatics and are kept on lees for four months prior to bottling to give extra texture and complexity. We think these wine offer terrific value and they are now bottled under screwcap for extra freshness.

Currently available:

2010 Gran Cardiel Rueda (Verdejo/Viura)

"...this has fine concentration and punch for the price. Its crisp, fresh and light in the mouth, but crammed with flavours of apricot, mango, peach and passion fruit and apples, with a lifted floral, herbaceous aspect. A good snapshot of contemporary Rueda." Decanter - Best Value White Wine of the Month
