Tremayne Smith started life as a winemaker with the now iconic Mullineux Family Wines. He sources fruit grown on old vines scattered in the more remote areas of the Coastal Region in South Africa, placing an emphasis on Rhne varietals. He allows natural ferments to take place and eschews fining or filtration in favour of letting time and nature do their work. What is striking about the wines he makes is the freshness and definition, all allied to very drinkable alcohol levels. The wines are so drinkable now, with barebones being a super quaffable style to be drunk chilled, all aided by sensible alcohol levels and a lightness of touch in the winery.
