Mas Betran is a high quality estate owned by Eva and Santi Ventura based in the hills around Sant Marti Sarroca. The wines are produced in a cave and all viticulture is based on organic principles, and minimum intervention in the winery. The varieties used are typical of the region, Xarel.lo, Macabeo and Parellada and the method of production traditional. What sets Balma apart is the fact of is left ‘sur latte’ for at least 36 months, and is disgorged on a six month or so rotation, with the date clearly labelled on the wine.
The nose is evolved with honey, brioche notes and amazing complexity, whilst the palate is apple and pear fruit, a touch of citrus and a fresh clean finish with underlying complexity from the ageing.
