Domaine du Mortier St Nicholas de Bourgueil

Fabien and Cyril Boisard have been at the helm of this domaine since 1996. The domaine now works entirely by hand using natural yeasts and minimal sulphur. I was amazed at the quality and value of these wines, a consequence I am told, of how unfashionable this area is at the moment (and it is better to have wines sold then aging in the cellar!). In recent years they have started work on small plots of vines in Brain, the village to the west of Saint Nicolas. So in addition to their refined terroir driven AOP Cabernet Franc, they also have some Vin de France Grolleau, Cabernet Franc, Chenin and Menu Pineau.
